Director of Liturgy and Music
Saint Mary Catholic Community, a parish family deeply committed to the vision of the Second Vatican Council, seeks a Director of Liturgy and Music to serve in collaboration with a large pastoral staff, providing professional leadership to cultivate ministry and lay leadership.
Responsibilities include recruitment, education, formation and scheduling of all musical and liturgical ministers. This includes coordination/direction/recruitment of all cantors, accompanists and musical ensembles; working with a parish liturgy team to prepare all parish liturgies; overseeing the organization and administration of parish resources for liturgical ministry; and guiding lectors, ministers of communion, bread bakers, greeters, ushers, launderers, and assistants.
A candidate for this position must appreciate the value of full, conscious, and active participation of the assembly. Professional musical experience, preferably including competence and familiarity with a 16-rank pipe organ and concert grand piano, is required. A master’s degree in liturgical studies is a plus.
Salary is negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and diocesan standards.
Saint Mary is located in Helena, Montana, renowned for its in-town hiking trails, fifteen miles from the continental divide, and midway between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Great Divide Ski Area is nearby. Cultural offerings of the Helena Symphony and Carroll College round out life in Helena, the Queen City of the Rockies.
